I love good chocolate, and with the Holiday's approaching more people will be buying chocolate for themselves or as a gift to someone they know. If you are going to be buying chocolate it's important to know that what you are buying is good. With Mrs. Cavanaugh's you will know that the chocolate won't be that gross $3 box of chocolates that you may sometimes get from others. I have a lot of foodies (Food friends) in my life, and I usually put together items or buy food gift baskets for them, and one thing I always make sure to put in is chocolate. Everyone loves it, and when you buy good chocolate it shows that you actually took your time and choose something you know is good.
I received a selection of chocolates from Mrs. Cavanaugh's. This was to allow me the chance to taste test and review the chocolates they offer.
I was happily surprised when my delivery arrived, and my box of Mrs. Cavanaugh's chocolates was filled with a nice assortment of chocolate. I had to get a picture of what I received just so you can see them as well. Once I opened the box, I was surrounded by my family begging for a bite to eat. Since I had plenty to share, I cut up the chocolate bars and we all taste tested the different flavors that were sent.
My first though at trying these chocolate was creamy freshness. It literally melted in my mouth with how creamy it was. My favorite bu far, was the Mindy Mint chocolate bar. I love mint chocolate ice cream, and this was very close to that flavor. The mint was not overpowering and blended well with the chocolate bar. Everyone else in my household enjoyed the caramel bar, and remarked that "there is a lot of caramel in this."
The assorted box of chocolate had a lot of good options to choose from as well. A nice variety of creams, turtle, nut clusters, toffee, caramel, and truffles that please all of us, and I am sure would please your taste buds.
Here is more about how Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolates came about:
Time was when Marie Cavanaugh spent hours in her South Dakota farmhouse each Christmas season making pecan rolls and homemade chocolates for holiday gifting.
"It started when my aunt sent her pecan-rolls recipe," Mrs. Cavanaugh recalled. "I gave the recipe my own touch and started making the yummy specialties. Then I began dipping chocolates. Our friends and neighbors loved these treats, encouraging me to start a candy business. Finally, I decided it might be a good idea.'"
Her husband George and children Carla, Lorraine, Calvin, Colene and Genise rallied, helping Mrs. Cavanaugh fill demands for her homemade sweets.
...In 1972, the family moved to Utah, leaving good friends and their beloved cattle ranch.
"It was a difficult decision, especially for George," Mrs. Cavanaugh said. "He was excited about making our new venture, which we chose to call Mrs. Cavanaugh's Candies, a great success. We felt Utah was blessed with good chocolates and that we would enjoy - and could compete with - those who pride themselves on making excellent chocolates."
Millions of pounds of chocolates later, Mrs. Cavanaugh's candies have earned a reputation for unquestionable excellence.... Ask chocolate aficionados. They will direct those seeking the best chocolates to the popular Mrs. Cavanaugh's Candies.
