Splatters Studio Paint Your Own Pottery Review
Feb 4th, 2009I recently had the pleasure of taking my children to Splatters Studio ~ Where You Paint the Pottery. It is nestled among the brick buildings in the quaint village of Spencerport, right along the canal. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the inspiring colorfulness of it all. It just makes you want to pick up a piece of pottery and start painting!
Before you get started though, you have many choices to make! You get to choose your own piece, and there are hundreds to choose from. Bowls, plates, trinket boxes, figurines are just a few. There were so many choices my daughter took 20 minutes deciding what to paint! Of course my son chose the first thing he saw when he walked in the door, typical male! Then it’s on to your colors - you choose your very own color palette by listing the corresponding numbers on a piece of paper. The owner Chris really took time with my kids to help them pick out colors based on the pottery they chose to paint, as well as showing them how to use the tiny tools. She even gave them little aprons, made sure their chairs were high enough to reach the table and picked out appropriate brushes. Overall, she made sure it was a very pleasurable experience for them, which is helpful when you have a 4 year old who could be set off at any given moment!
Splatters is the place to come if you are looking for a creative outlet for yourself, a great family night out or time with your friends. What a great place to get together with the girls and chat while you are creating art! The kids love it here too, it lets them explore their artistic nature and gives them all the tools they need to create a masterpiece. For the price of a piece of pottery, which is very reasonable and includes paint and firing, you get quality time with your group and a beautiful creation of your own to remember it by!
My daughter recently attended a birthday party here and thought it was the greatest thing since Hannah Montana! They got to sit in their own room, choose a beautiful piece of pottery (a very good size one might I add) and do the whole cake and presents thing too.
